Eagle Mount Bozeman offers a comprehensive therapeutic horticulture program designed for people with disabilities and young people with cancer. The program utilizes a garden and climate-controlled greenhouses to provide year-round activities that foster a connection with nature, nurture independence, and build confidence.
Program Details
The horticulture program incorporates the therapeutic benefits of planting, weeding, watering, and caring for a garden. The activities are structured around the seasons:
Spring Session: Participants use the greenhouse to start seedlings indoors, preparing for the upcoming growing season.
Summer Session: Activities move outdoors to the program garden, where participants tend to vegetables, herbs, and flowers, engaging in planting, watering, and making crafts from the harvest.
Fall Session: The focus is on harvesting and processing the season’s yield, then preparing the garden for winter.
Winter Session: The program moves indoors to care for and propagate succulents and houseplants within the warm greenhouse environment.
Horticulture participants also have the opportunity to host a stand at local summer and winter farmers’ markets, sharing plants, produce, and crafts with the community.
