Stockman's Bar
Stockman’s Bar Bozeman: A Modern Revival of Montana’s Historic Cattlemen’s Saloon
Experience a taste of the Old West at Stockman’s Bar, a reimagined classic saloon and eatery on Main Street in Downtown Bozeman. After decades away, this local legend has returned to honor Montana’s rich ranching history with an elevated yet comfortable western vibe. Whether you’re a long-time local or a visitor, Stockman’s offers a unique and authentic dining and drinking experience that pays tribute to the cattlemen and pioneers who shaped the region.
Atmosphere and Decor
Historic inspiration: Owner Brett Evje, a fifth-generation Montanan, was inspired by classic western establishments and history to recreate the spirit of the original Stockman Bar, which operated in downtown Bozeman from 1942 to 1972. The new bar has been expertly designed to evoke a feeling of timelessness.
Unique architectural details: Inside, you’ll find an authentic 1900 Brunswick bar that once lived in San Francisco and now calls Bozeman home. Other curated pieces of history, including a salvaged mural and western artwork, further enhance the vintage saloon aesthetic.
Irish snug: For a more intimate experience, duck into the “Irish snug,” a walled-off private area within the bar that is reminiscent of historical private drinking rooms.
Vibrant western ambiance: The combination of dark colors, tile flooring, and rustic touches creates a sophisticated yet welcoming environment for a diverse crowd.
Cuisine and Cocktails
Beef-focused menu: In a nod to Montana’s cattle ranching heritage, the menu features a classic beef-focused selection, including Wagyu beef steaks, a classic smashburger, and brisket.
Signature cocktails and classics: The cocktail menu offers a thoughtful mix of signature creations and classic drinks. One notable example is “The Stockman’s Light,” a martini crafted with local award-winning vodka.
Other offerings: In addition to beef, the menu includes pasta options, seafood (including jumbo prawns), salads, and small plates, all prepared by a culinary team with experience from Plonk and J.W. Heist.
