Chance Farm

Located in Bozeman, Montana, Chance Farm is a five-acre organic-practice vegetable operation dedicated to soil health and local land stewardship. Founded in 2018 by Josh Chance, the farm utilizes permaculture principles and a “closed-loop” composting system to grow nutrient-dense produce for the Gallatin Valley.
Organic Practices & Sustainability
Chance Farm specializes in cultivating over 30 varieties of vegetables, including leafy greens, microgreens, basil, and root crops.
Permaculture Approach: The farm focuses on land stewardship and low soil disturbance to bolster natural biology.
Closed-Loop System: In 2025, the farm continues its partnership with Happy Trash Can Curbside Composting, using local food scrap compost as a primary soil amendment to recycle community waste back into the soil.
Season Extension: With six high tunnels and four caterpillar tunnels, the farm produces high-quality vegetables outside the typical Montana growing season.
Community Offerings & Services
CSA Programs: Chance Farm offers seasonal Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares. The 2025 winter CSA provides 10 weeks of high-quality harvests, often including add-ons from other local producers like Black Dog Farm eggs and SporeAttic mushrooms.
Farmer’s Markets: Find their fresh produce at local markets throughout 2025 and 2026:
Bozeman Winter Market: Saturdays at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds (October–December 2025).
Tuesday Market: Summer evenings at Lindley Park.
Wholesale & Dining: The farm supplies over 14 local restaurants, including Revelry, SHAN, and Feast Raw Bar & Bistro.
Education & Events: The farm hosts annual tours, volunteer harvest days, and public dinners to foster a deeper connection between community members and their food sources.
